Note from Melissa A. Aguilar,
Executive Director of Region 1 Workforce Investment Board
As you are aware, the Federal Administration has passed a Stimulus package that has now trickled down to the state and local area. The Region 1 area encompassing the counties of Fayette, Greenbrier, McDowell, Mercer, Monroe, Nicholas, Pocahontas, Raleigh, Summers, Webster, and Wyoming, has a budget of over $2,000,000 that has a grant life ending June 30, 2011. Region 1 has been strategically planning an effective use of these funds that will ultimately ensure quick turn-around in directing dollars to employers, job seekers, and students in our region.
It is necessary that all Region 1 constituents be very aware of the availability of these funds; yet also understands the nature of how the funds must be expended. This informational fact sheet has been designed to provide a clear understanding of the plan of obligating and expending the stimulus dollars and how you as a Region 1 partner can assist us in assisting the citizens throughout our area.
Again, we are very excited to have the opportunity to work with employers and citizens throughout our Region 1 area in delivering quality services that ultimately will enhance the sustainability and vitality of our workforce. If you need additional information, please do not hesitate to contact me at your convenience. In advance, thank you for your support and dedication in working together to build an inclusive and streamlined workforce system for our region.
